Have you ever stopped to consider what are things that you value in your life, or the things that you appreciate or consider important? Are you the type of person who is into classical things? Usually, people can tell the type of person you are through things that you value and I believe that it is important that there are at least some things that we should truly value.

There are many things today that people consider classics, such as books written by famous authors, movies that have been created from way back but is still considered one of the best movies of all time. Classical music is truly appreciated even today. Paintings by the famous artists, that have survived are safely kept. Buildings or relics that have lasted through centuries are valuable and important. However, not all of these can be commonly appreciated or considered important by all people.

Let’s take for example plays written by William Shakespeare. These are plays that have lasted throughout centuries and are still being performed by many today. But people, who don’t care much for plays or don’t have the taste for classical stories, will not appreciate it. For movies, many people have come to appreciate and respect the work of “Gone with the Wind”. This is considered a classic, but we all know that “if you’re just not into that kind of movie”, it’s not something you would want to watch.

Classical music from Beethoven, Bach, Mozart and more have been playing through the centuries and is considered important. The fast change of taste in music however continually evolves, and although it is still a classic, not many people enjoy listening to them because everyone has different taste. A painting such as the Mona Lisa is kept safe because it was painted by Leonardo da Vinci, but people who don’t normally value works of art won’t be as interested as some one who does.

So through all my examples you can see that there are many things that are classical and considered important to many people. But one common factor among all the examples I had given is that they are usually just appreciated by certain groups of people, and that is just the way it is. Yet, just because it is not enjoyed or valued by all, doesn’t mean that the value in itself depreciates, and that is what makes it special.

As I mentioned earlier, every person has a different taste in what they may like or desire. But I believe that I can safely say that one of the most desirable things that everyone desires in some way or another is the beautiful, rare, and precious diamond. It has been commonly said that the diamond is forever. This is a statement that is considered to be true, because as far as we know diamonds have been around for as long as we can remember. It has lasted through the test of time, and even thought it goes ages back, everyone still desires it.

Throughout the centuries, diamonds have been given throughout history. The diamond connotes romantic passion because it is usually given from a man to a woman, generally in the form of a ring as a sign of love and promise. Although, we know that it has been and can be worn by anyone. Every diamond is rare and wonderful; however, we can’t help but find antique diamond rings especially valuable.

When you think of antique diamond rings you automatically think of rings that have belonged to the kings and queens of old. Anything antique is precious because it has remained through time. The first antique diamond ring given was towards the end of the 15th century when the Austrian Archduke Maximilian gave his an engagement ring to Mary of Burgundy. It is known that this was an antique-cut diamond, making it rare. Other antique rings were known to be Victorian, Georgian, and Edwardian; however these went under the control of Englishman Cecil John Rhodes in 1880, when the Da Beers Consolidated Mines Ltd. was formed. Getting a hold of an antique ring is something rare and special, so if ever you do get one cherish it and value it because nothing can ever be the same!
